Spotlight: What a Reckless Rogue Needs by Vicky Dreiling

(I am a horrible person. I don’t know why, but this post didn’t publish when it was supposed to. So sorry!! But, here a Spotlight instead (review will go live once I’ve finished reading)

Triple RITA finalist Vicky Dreiling is a confirmed historical romance junkie and Anglophile. Frequent business trips to the UK allowed her to indulge her passion for all things Regency England. Bath, Stonehenge, and Spencer House are among her favorite places. She is, however, truly sorry for accidentally setting off a security alarm in Windsor Castle. That unfortunate incident led her British colleagues to nickname her “Trouble.” Vicky is a native Texan and holds degrees in English literature and marketing.

What a Reckless Rogue Needs

Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire, has no desire to wed, this season or any other. So when his father demands he give up his wild ways and take a wife, Colin refuses. But his father raises the stakes and threatens to sell the ancestral home if Colin doesn’t comply. Now Colin has no choice but to find a wife. Unfortunately, the only woman he wants is the one whose heart he broke years ago.

Regardless of the ton’s whispers, Lady Angeline Brenham won’t settle for anything less than true love. After rejecting more than her share of suitable suitors, spinsterhood looms before her-until the devilishly handsome Colin reappears in her life with a proposition. Angeline vows to keep her feet on the ground and her heart in check. That is, until one searing kiss melts her resolve and reignites a burning desire for more . ..

Back to You (Coming Home #3) by Jessica Scott

From USA Today bestselling author Jessica Scott comes BACK TO YOU (On-sale 1/7), a powerfully emotional and darkly authentic military romance in her Coming Home series.

He’s in for the fight of his life . . .

Army captain Trent Davila loved his wife, Laura, and their two beautiful children. But when he almost lost his life in combat, something inside him died. He couldn’t explain the emptiness he felt or bridge the growing distance between him and his family-so he deployed again. And again. And again…until his marriage reached its breaking point. Now, with everything on the line, Trent has one last chance to prove to his wife that he can be the man she needs …if she’ll have him

. . . to win back his only love.

Laura is blindsided when Trent returns home. Time and again, he chose his men over his family, and she’s just beginning to put the pieces of her shattered heart back together. But when Trent faces a court martial on false charges, only Laura can save him. What begins as an act of kindness to protect his career inflames a desire she thought long buried-and a love that won’t be denied. But can she trust that this time he’s back to stay?

We finally get Laura and Trent’s story!

This one wasn’t as emotional for me as the other Jessica Scott books (I think if it was, I’d still be crying). But, it’s very emotional for the characters. It’s a story about love, redemption, and rekindling the romance when you think it’s lost. It’s about how, despite the honor, loyalty, and love found in fighting for one’s country, those things might go missing or diminish in one’s personal life. It’s about coming home. It’s about balancing work and family. It’s about knowing when you need help and that asking for help is not a weakness.

The thing I love about Jessica’s books is they’re never wrapped up with a pretty bow. Yes, there’s always a HEA. But, it’s not a we’re-together-this-is-the-end-of-the-story HEA. There’s still work ahead which means….MORE BOOKS! ;P
